Elizabeth Cranch Norton papers, 1783-1822.

Letters and diaries of Elizabeth Cranch Norton, including letters to her mother Mary Cranch and one letter each to her sister Lucy Cranch (later Greenleaf), her brother William Cranch, and her future husband Jacob Norton. Her diaries kept in Braintree, Mass. from 25 Oct. - 21 Nov. 1786 before her marriage and in Weymouth, Mass. from 15 July - 28 Oct. 1797 and 24 Sept. 1800 - 16 Sept. 1802 as the wife of Rev. Jacob Norton, describe her duties as the wife of a minister, including daily chores, visits, church attendance, health, and family news. The collection also includes seven sermons written and preached by Jacob Norton in Weymouth and elsewhere from 1794-1822.
